What is "Human Communication"?

There seems to be some confusion regarding an important difference between this:

The word "communication" gets used for both of them (and indeed for other things that don't even have any people in them at all). If you follow my blog posts at all you will come to understand that I am not about to tell what the "correct" meaning of the word is, but I do think there is a useful distinction to be made between an exchange of ideas between two people, and one person broadcasting their ideas.

The term Human Communication – at least when I use it – only refers to the first of these. As a (Human) Communication consultant, I do not seek to help people become human loudhailers! There is well and truly enough of that going on in the world as it is. I seek to facilitate exchange and dialogue. That's what #HumanCommunication means to me.

It's one of the most important skills we can learn, one that most of us are never actually taught, one that most of think we are better at than we actually are, and one whose underdevelopment is the cause of a vast majority of daily problems involving human interaction of any kind.

And yet, it is so easy to address...
