H. C. Maia Services is a specialist writing and analysis practice supporting government-contracted organisations across Australia.

Based in regional New South Wales and working nationally, we focus on tender and grant writing, business case development, and the data work that underpins each.

We take complex requirements, fragmented inputs, competing stakeholder views and tight timeframes, and turn them into clear, compelling submissions that stand up to scrutiny and that win.

Since 2018, we’ve contributed to successful bids and funding outcomes totalling close to $800 million in contract value. We work primarily on long-term retainer with a small number of clients, becoming part of their core bid and growth capability, while remaining available for focused engagements where required.

Our practice is led by Dr Colin Harrison. His PhD in neurocognitive linguistics, combined with decades of experience in language, communication and applied analysis, gives us a precise understanding of how meaning is constructed, how arguments land, and how to write with clarity under pressure. It also allows us to work quickly without sacrificing quality when timelines are tight.

Many services can produce a compliant submission. Where they struggle is with voice: creating a document that speaks with consistent authority, credibility, and humanity; one that knows who it is speaking to, and demonstrates confident understanding of what matters. This is what takes a submission from merely compliant to compelling. It’s also what tends to disappear in layered, process-heavy environments.

We have worked extensively with Australian Government-contracted Human Services providers, including Employment Services and Disability Support organisations. We also support smaller, high-impact service providers, such as youth centres and community-led initiatives, where strong submissions can make a tangible difference. We are proud to count successful First Nations businesses among our clients, and have a strong interest in supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations who deliver community-led, high-impact projects.
